Trip To Melaka - Day 2.

On the second day, we all went to the A Famosa Water World. Ina has always wanted to go there but I didn't have the time. What more with Kuantan having its own Gambang Water Park.

We got on our way at around 8 in the morning. The time taken to reach there is around 30 mins.

When we arrived there, the parking lot is almost full already (and we thought we were early).

The queue was already long. I purchased tickets for the Water Park, Animal Safari and Cowboy Town package. Quite expensive...RM 99 for adults...

We went to the Animal World first...

~At the entrance~

~Hanim with one of the mascot around there~

When we first entered, there's this spot with macaws - a very colourful bird originating from the Americas. Took some pics there...

Nearby, there's a 'wishing well'. I don't see anyone throwing any coins inside...or maybe it has been cleared already...

From there, we went to see the Elephant Show. I guess it's fun for the kids.
We took the chance to take a pic with the elephant. To take pictures, it costs RM 10 each...

We continued and went to this Chicken Farm place. Nothing much there...just chickens. It shows varieties of chickens, so the girls didn't show much interest....

Then we walked around. There are many types of animals. In true sense, the Animal World is actually a zoo.

~With the Emus...close relative of ostriches~

~Sheeps~

~Geese?...I can find this even in Kuantan laa...aiyooo~

~Porcupines...also can be found in Taman Teruntum, Kuantan hehehe~

There are people selling packages of vegetables to feed the animals. It costs RM 4 each pack. Nice business strategy...
We bought one pack and Alyssa took it to feed the ponies.

~Alyssa feeding the pony~

~I took the chance to pat the pony on its head~

After walking for a while, we came to this bird show. It's quite exciting. They showcase birds. Hanim and Alyssa looked excited.

~After the game with the flamingos~

We walked around to see more animals. It's tiring. The girls are getting tired, me too. We stopped a couple of times to buy some drinks...

There are two more shows that we went to. One was the orang utan show and the other one was the cowboy show...

~The orang utan show~

~Cowboy show~

We got coupons for free lunch. The queue is very long. What to do, just go with flow. Everyone else is hungry, just like us...

While I'm queuing, Hanim and Alyssa posed for some pics at the nearby souvenir shop.

After lunch, we took a boat ride tot the Monkey Island. It's just a small island where a few animals are free to roam around the island.

~On the boat to Monkey Island~

They are tame too. We can actually touch them...

~I think this is a lemur~

~A very small monkey...smaller than my palm~

~On Monkey Island~

~Alyssa with a peacock~

From there, we went for the Animal Safari ride. We got on a bus and then drove through the animal's den.
The wild animals are walking free as we drove through their den, stopping in some places for us to take pics...

~A tiger taking a dip in one of the ponds~

~This one looking restless and growling~

~There are bears too~

The Safari ride is our last activity in the Animal World.
We got out and went to the car to get our clothes. It's already 3 pm and it's time for the girls to play in the Water Park.

I just took some pics of the girls at the Water Park entrance. We're going to play with water so I'm not risking my camera. It's not waterproof....

The girls had fun there. Personally, I think Gambang Water Park is bigger with better facilities, but it's quite okay. A Famosa is more of a 'all in one' facility...

~Everyone's tired after the Water Park adventure~

After the Water Park, we went to the Cowboy Town. It's getting dark...

There's this group of dancers in cowboy costume dancing at the entrance. We took the chance to snap a pic with them...

~Ina and the girls with the dancers~

We went inside and found ourselves in a small 'western-like' town. There are rides for the visitors at the price of RM 4 each.

I just took some pics at the stalls...

We went to see a short movie in 3D. It's quite interesting but not that much fun. Everyone is waiting for the cowboy show.

At around 9 pm, the show starts.
It starts with the Red Indian show. Performers are spitting fire from their mouth and also quenching fire in their mouth. "Flame eaters' are what they're called.

After all those cowboy show, we are treated to a parade by all the performers. There are dancers dancing, birds flying around, elephants parade. The song on the background?...what else...cuti cuti Malaysia laa...

The show ends with the fireworks show. I took some videos of the firework show so I couldn't upload it here. But it was wonderful.
The girls didn't stop clapping their hands and they're talking about the show until we reach our hotel room.

We went back to Kuantan the next morning...

It's been a wonderful two days for me and my family.
As I've always said, if the girls are happy then I'm happy...

Trip to Melaka - Day 1

It's the school holidays. Time for me to fulfill my promise to the girls to take them 'Cuti Cuti Malaysia'.
So, last weekend I took the girls to Melaka. My sister in law went along...

We went on our way on Saturday morning from Kajang. We spent the night before at my sister's house. From Kajang it takes about 1.5 hours to reach Bandar Melaka.

On the way, we stopped at the RnR Ayer Keroh for breakfast. The place is nice and the food is quite okay. Price is okay too...

~At the shop at RnR Ayer Keroh~

~The girls at the fountain there~

From RnR Ayer Keroh, it's another half hour drive to Ayer Keroh, Melaka. We planned to 'tour' Ayer Keroh first before checking in at the hotel.

~The first thing that caught my eyes when we arrived in Ayer Keroh~

Our first venture was met with dissappointment. The girls has always talked about going to the 'big merry-go-round' in Melaka. It's the Eye Of Malaysia.

To our disappointment, when we arrived, only then did we realize that the Eye Of Malaysia has been closed to public. The sign put up says that it's under maintenance but from what I understand, it's closed due to some debt amounting up to 5.5 million. Aiseyman, just imagine the girls disappointment...

Well, what to do. Just take some pics lah there...

~A memento that we went there~

So anyway, we decided to take some more pics at the seaside near there. From what I understand, the area is called the Marina. Nice view for photo shooting...

~Quite a nice view eh?~

~Ina must be wondering when can we get on the Eye Of Malaysia~

After that bit of disappointment, we made our way to the A Famosa area.
We parked at the St Paul church area then made our way on foot.

First stop is the Malaysian Architecture Museum.

Then after that, it's 'go where your feet takes you' event. There are rickshaw peddlers offering to take us to where we want but it's kinda pricey. Hey, I grew up in Penang laa, so rickshaw rides are nothing new for me. A bit different in looks but it's the same what hehehe....
It's hot that day...

~Hanim got on the train~

~With the old aeroplane replica~

~Hanim and Alyssa riding the old cannon~

~Old Fire truck~

~In front of the stamp museum~

~In front of the A Famosa fort~

After that, we went to the Istana Melaka.
We spent most of our time of the day here at the Palace. Hanim especially, asks a lot of questions. Great place to visit and educational too...

~At the Palace's entrance~

~The girls inside the palace~

~Ina at the stairs leading to the second floor~

~We were here~

On our way out, Hanim kept asking me about the rickshaw ride. I knew that she wanted to have a ride.
So I asked the guy
. It's RM10 one way for a ride to the Taming Sari Tower site. I agreed...for my girls.

We took some pics first...

Well, it's a 3 mins ride from A Famosa fort to the Taming Sari Tower. Okaylah...Hanim said.

We bought tickets for the 7 mins ride on the revolving tower. It brings us up to a height of 80 meters to enjoy the Melaka town view.

~The tower from below~

~Inside the tower's passenger cabin~

~A view of the Eye Of Malaysia from 80 meters high~

After that, it's time for lunch.
We went to this Selera Kampung restaurant nearby. It's famous for its asam pedas ikan pari. The asam pedas is quite good. Recommended to all...

After getting our stomach full, we made our way to the Pahlawan Mall. Ina wanted to see around.
In the middle, there's a fountain with plaques of all the Prime Ministers of Malaysia and some other figures that I couldn't identify. Interesting...

~The koi's are hungry...easy to touch~

From there, we went back to our car and drove to the Maritime Museum. It's a big ship in the middle of the city.

~At the entrance~

From there, we went across the street to this bazaar selling souvenirs. Ina wanted to buy some souvenirs (shirts especially) for family and friends.

We went to some other places but I lost count. Pics not taken also since I'm getting tired of picture taking.
Our last visit for the day is the Taman Mini Malaysia...

Nothing much here. Only replicas of traditional houses in Malaysia. The thing is, most of them are in bad shape. I don't think the girls had a good time there. Nothing interesting to them...

~Hanim on a swing in front of one of the houses~

~Rumah Perlis~

~Rumah Pulau Pinang...really??~

~Rumah Kedah~

~Rumah Selangor~

~Yep...Rumah Melaka laa...what else~

From there, we made our way to the hotel. Everyone is tired especially the girls.
Everyone can't wait for tomorrow. We're going to the A Famosa Water World...
